Bashment Soca is here to stay and this genre of music is taking over the world! There has become a plethora of artistes entering the International Bashment Soca Monarch Competition in its first year and this year should be no different.
The event transforms into the International Bashment Soca Monarch & Beach Party – The Ultimate Beach Party for the Crop Over Season! Headlined by the International Soca Monarch, ‘Mr. Killa’ who will get you to ‘Run Wid It’.
4D Entertainment Inc., a local organization , world-renown for the Soca On de Hill production, held in July at the Farley Hill National Park, St. Peter, one of the biggest events of the Crop Over Season also produces another spectacular and exciting event ensuring quality entertainment for quality persons.
The International Bashment Soca Monarch & Beach Party now stands on its own and has quickly become a favourite on the party scene. The competition has led the way in how competitions should be done in Barbados. It offers a structured and level playing field for the proponents of this art form to show why the music is so popular and well-loved. Artistes from across the world submit one song for judging and the best song performed wins. A song can be a mixture of bashment soca and any other genre of music lending to true creativity by the artiste.
It was previously a Winner-Takes-All competition but as the artistes have been calling for this to be changed, this year, the winner, second and third place will receive a cash prize and other prizes while all other contestants will continue to receive an appearance fee.
The competition continues to be judged from the selection stage to the final using a panel of judges and voting by the public.
